Search engine optimization is extremely important for Search Engines to find your site free, and SEO is critical for any successful website. effective seo has evolved as Google and Yahoo have modified their logic for ranking web sites high in their results.
The straigh scoop is to ignore SEO services promising top 10 rankings in days. Seriously it's BS or a gimmick, at least zI'm telling the truth. However you can achive solid rankings, and we'll explain this here for free, as best we can. We do ask you to Digg This and to recommend our site to others.
SEO Gimmicks Busted: It used to be that high rankings were attainable by having 'lots of links to your site' and thankfully Google isn't that straight forward anymore, as so called "SEO professionals" just created a ton of links to the sites they provided services for, to get those artificial rankings.
Current SEO: With Google and Yahoo always modifying their logic, they are getting better and better at locating the most "relevant sites" for any given search. So the trick is,... Make Your Site Relevant, and let the Search Engines know it. So here are some of the tips and we'll keep typing and adding notes.
Content for Search Engine Optimization:
Have relevant content embeded in all the correct places on your pages. Page names, file directory structures, image names, ALT text, Title text, meta tags, keywords, header text, first line of you page, embeded through your text on your page, links within your site, etc. Ok, we'll break these down for you:
SEO Tip #1: Identifying the top search terms. This is "Tip #1" for a reason, as it is the baseline for everything you will do with every tip to follow. You want to identify the top terms, and then apply them throughout your site as appropriate. Now, top terms does not just mean most frequently searched terms, that is what most think, but realize how much competition there is for those terms. You may have great integration of a term with a ton of searches, but still end up on page 10, and you hope that enough people get to page 10. However, if you look for secondary terms, with less competition, you can earn great placement on page 1 or 2. So where to find these magical terms? GoogleAdwords is a good start, and we'll list a few more later in the next week or so. Now once you have these terms, you'll apply them through the next tips.
SEO Tip #2: Using the right page names. Ok, yes we will get to meta tags and keywords in a minute, but use the terms that people are searching for in your page names - assuming it is for relevant material. Although we do not get top billing for the keyword SEO, we have titled this page seo.html so engines locate it and see it as relevant to searches for SEO information.
SEO Tip #3: Creating optimal directory structures. This is very similar to naming your pages. We will eventually roll all the SEO Tips into a directory which the search engines will find located at www.submitmysite.net/seo/etc... as the search engines will know that the contents of that folder all relate to seo information.
SEO Tip #4: Search Engine Optimized image names. Although we don't use product oriented images on our site, please consider a cigar site which is trying to have people find their site for each of the specific cigar bands, as well as general terms. Each product page will be titled brandname_cigars.html as shown in SEO Tip #2, but they will also name the images that they call on the page accordingly as well. If they use one image for the product line, they will name the image brandname_cigars.jpeg; brandname_cigars.gif or brandname_cigars.psd. Example: cohiba_cigars.gif. If they use an image for each product type, they would put that in the image name as well. Example: cohiba_lonsdale_cigars.gif and cohiba_churchill_cigars.gif. This will help search engines see not only the keywords, and content as being about cohiba lonsdale cigars, but provides reassuring proof to the search engines that the page is really about cohibas and these products, since the images names match the content and searched terms.
SEO Tip #5: ALT Text helps verify value to search engines. ALT text is the text that you get to apply to your images that a user sees when they hover over your images. We will show you how to set this in the future, if you don't already know how, but you can also find it on many sites and copy it. In short, use a few keywords in your alt text that is a little different, but still relevant to the image. An example for ALT text for the cigar example might be "Cohiba is a great dominican cigar with Maduro wrapper." This will help pick up on searches for "cohiba", dominican cigar" and "maduro wrapper". There is lots of power in the use of tags in your ALT text, to compliment image names, page names, and page content.
SEO Tip #6: Title text is key and invaluable. After your page names and directory structure, the next place that search engines look is the "Title" of your pages. You define your "Title" in the title tag within your meta tags. You will want to have 2 to 4 ekyword pairs in your title text on each page. We recommend different "Title" text per page which is targeted to each page, that also compliments the content and other keywords you have on those pages. You want the BEST keywords for that page in your title on that page. You will see this page is titled "SEO Services for Search Engine Optimization". We actually capture three phrases here, can you see what they are? Tricky, but smart. First "SEO" which is the most popular seo term searched. Second, "SEO Services" which enables us to get two possible keyword searches within our 1st two words. Use this in your pages where you can. Third, "Search Engine Optimization" which covers those typing that out. We should point out that this page is all about these three topics. Also, the term "SEO Services" was a strategic selection for a slightly lesser searched phrase we hope to gain placement for. If you don't know how to creat title text, right click on this page, select "View Source" see how we do it, and then do that on your pages.
SEO Tip #7: Meta Tags, getting them right. Details are coming soon, in the meantime you can begin to apply the other seo tips.

SEO Tip #9: Page Header text speaks volumes for SEO. Details are coming soon, in the meantime you can begin to apply the other seo tips.
SEO Tip #10: First words first. Top ranked keywords first. The same rule as with the Title text applies to your "Headers". These are defined as the section headers you have on your pages, in larger or bold font. Be sure to use the premium keywords for your headers as they apply. Search engine optimization is assisted when you do as engines provide more value to these words on the page since section headers usually speak to the content truly on the page.
SEO Tip #11: Content is always king. This tip will be detailed more in the near future, but the bottom line is thatthe search engines are extremely smart and hte best way to optimize your site and pages for search engines is to truly have your content on the page reflect the terms you are hoping to attract peoiple for. The engines figure it out, so make your pages relevant, and they will be found.
SEO Tip #12: Cross link your pages and sites. You have multiple directories and pages for your site, and may have more than one site. You do not want to flood your site with links, becasue that will definitely hurt you. However, you should cross link your pages within your site, and also cross-link to other complimentary sites that you have. This helps robots find your other sites, but also creates more links pointing into your site which can help boost your Google PR (page rank).
Help Search Engines Read Your Site:
You need to help them read your site. This includes the robots.txt file, meta tags and keywords placed in the correct location in your code, locting javascripts in the correct location on your pages, submiting to the correct search engines, prompting the search engines, and more. Ok, now we'll break these down for you:
SEO Tip #13: The robots.txt File. You don't know want this is do you? No worries, most people don't. It is a basic text file that all search engines and bots look for and to, in determining which directories they can and can not search on your site. You can also you this to keep specific bots out if you like. We will publish detail on a complex version later, but enter www.submitmysite.net/robots.txt into your browser. Then copy that, paste into a text editor, swap your url in place of ours, save as robots.txt then pulish in your root directory. If you enter www.yoursitename.com/robots.txt it shoudl show up - and now you are more 'spider friendly'.
SEO Tip #14: Javascript has it's place, at the bottom. Ok, I am guessing that you have javascript on your pages like most websites out there. This edit is also a very simple one. Frequently the javascript code is at the top of the pages, and then called within the respecitve place within your page. Take all the scripts themselves that are at the top of the page, and move them to the bottom of the page. It will still be called by the places in the page, so you will be fine. Why move the code you ask? Very simple, this is less (and wasted code) that you now get out of the way so the search engine spiders don't need to wade through this in finding your keywords. Basically helping make it easier for search engines to get to the words you want them to find. Sure, search engines are lightening quick, but it's true.
SEO Tip #15: Meta Tag Placement. Details are coming soon, in the meantime you can begin to apply the other seo tips.
SEO Tip #16: Keyword Placement. Details are coming soon, in the meantime you can begin to apply the other seo tips.
SEO Tip #17: Prompt search engines to Revisist your site. The search engine robots are machines and tend to do what they are told. Now they do what they are told by the search engine, but you can prompt them to revisit your site depending on how often you update the content on the pages. By rule, even if you update pages daily, we don't suggest prompting anything less then 4 days, but that works well. Here is the the code you want to paste within your meta tags (Meta Name="Revisit-after" CONTENT="4 days") but replace the ( and ) with < and >. Now get that code updated :)
SEO Tip #18: Keywords in Your Pages. Details are coming soon, in the meantime you can begin to apply the other seo tips.
SEO Tip #19: Submit to Search Engines. Yes, the top engines power most searches, but you need to be in the others to help boost rankings within the big ones. So use the SubmitMySite.net service, or another service to submit to the top few hundred search engines.
SEO Tip #20: Trigger Search Engines Yourself. Once your pages have all meta tags and keywords updated, optimized pages and robots.txt file in pace, go to yahoo.com, google.com and msn.com and do a search in ther search box for your site. Don't do more than a few. Over doing it will get you found out, but once or twice is enough to get them to swing by your site.
SEO Tip #21: Trade links with top sites. Details are coming soon, in the meantime you can begin to apply the other seo tips.
SEO Tip #22: Promote your site. Details are coming soon, in the meantime you can begin to apply the other seo tips.

SEO Tip #24: Craigslist. Great for some free advertising, plus google bot crawls craiglist for links and relevant content.
